Large Golden Sails utilized by Apostolosian ships to travel faster than light. These are significantly slower than conventional FTL drives used by most of the galaxy.
However conventional drives must follow specific hyperspace lanes plotted between planets limiting paths that ships can take from planet to planet. The Golden Sails are not limited in this manner allowing Apostolosian ships to take any route they choose including travel through the darkspace voids where there are no stars. During the Golden War Apostolos utilized this system to bypass heavily defended border planets and strike directly at key under defended targets deep in enemy space.
